LonaMalu or "Her Home" is an activewear brand inspired to hopefully add and continue to raise awareness on islanders mental health journey. During my postgraduate studies in 2022, I faced significant mental health challenges, leading to several attempts on my own life. While acknowledging this reality is not something I take pride in, I decided to be transparent about it in hope of saving a life.

Opening up about my mental health was initially challenging. However, I discovered solace in dumbbells and barbells, and a few months later the gym became my therapy, saving me and enabling me to gain control over my thoughts and various aspects of myself. Now, my coping mechanism may differ from yours but in essence, exercising transformed not just my physique but most importantly my thoughts, illustrating the profound impact it can have on one's well-being.

The 'Malu' symbol, featured as LonaMalu's logo, holds cultural significance from my Samoan heritage. Derived from the traditional art of tattooing for Samoan women, it is often interpreted as protected, sheltered, or home. This meaning resonated deeply with me, emphasizing the idea that I am capable of safeguarding and controlling my thoughts. For too long I let myself believe that my thoughts controls ME but the truth is, I control my thoughts!

Regardless of whether you share my Samoan background or not, I hope the symbol encourages you to recognize your own ability to protect, shelter, and guide your thoughts positively. Personally, I constantly remind myself that I am greater than the destructive thoughts within me. You have the power to be your own protector, by seeking the help you need or start your health journey with me! Again it all begins with YOU and your choices of thoughts. I hope you choose to think POSITIVE thoughts!
